EXIF & metadata

EXIF Metadata Editor

Add attribution to a JPEG before you share it — set the Artist, Copyright, and Description fields, no server involved.

Your files never leave your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or seen by us.

How it works

This tool reads your JPEG's existing EXIF block using the open-source piexifjs library, lets you edit the Artist, Copyright, and Description tags, then rewrites just that metadata block back into the file — the compressed image data itself is never touched. Everything happens locally in your browser tab.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the EXIF & Metadata Checker?
The EXIF & Metadata Checker lets you view metadata and strip it entirely. This tool goes the other direction — it lets you write your own values into a photo's Artist, Copyright, and Description fields, for example to add attribution before sharing your work.
Why does this only work with JPEG files?
JPEG has a well-defined embedded metadata block (EXIF/APP1) that this tool can read and rewrite. PNG and WebP don't have a directly equivalent standard block that's as universally supported, so editing isn't offered for those formats here.
Will editing metadata affect the image quality?
No. Only the metadata block is modified — the compressed image pixel data is left untouched, so there's no re-encoding or quality loss.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere to edit its metadata?
No. The file is read and rewritten entirely in your browser using the open-source piexifjs library. Nothing is sent to a server.
